My husband Russ and I went to New Jersey last week, departing on Tuesday and returning on Thursday. We fly standby since Russ is a retired United Air Lines employee. We arrived at our nephew’s home at 4.30 a.m. on Wednesday (just as he was ready to leave for work) after not getting on 3 flights and having the 4th flight delayed for three hours. The flight home on Thursday was unremarkable except that we landed in San Francisco just in time for rush hour and a 40 minute drive took an hour and a half. We were done with flying for a while!
All that said, I just had to make this card for him for his birthday with a reminder of us traveling the globe in a bi-plane! Or at least in what seemed like a bi-plane adventure.
I stamped the bi-plane (Black Memento ink) and tail smoke (Smoky Slate) images before running the Marina Mist card stock through the Big Shot.
I tried to put the Happy Birthday greeting on the card front (below) but it just didn’t look right to me. I didn’t like the balance.
So I added the Gold Baker’s Twine and called it a day. I was up against the ‘b’ day deadline! Inside I stamped the You Send Me Soaring image and then the Happy Birthday image.
I know Russ will enjoy the card as well as catch the ‘humor’ in the airplane flying across the globe!
