Basic Card for the Outgoing Mailbox – Just Change the Greeting

As you might know I’m a huge proponent of getting personal greeting cards into incoming mailboxes. Who wouldn’t prefer a hand stamped signed, sometimes with love, greeting card in their mailbox rather than another promo, piece of junk mail or bill!?

Stamped With Love x 4 greetings

This clean and simple card was created using Basic White Thick, Basic White (not thick!), Smoky Slate and Real Red card stocks and ink. And a few Perennial Postage dies.

  • Basic White Thick: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ — fold in half “squishing the mountain”. Translation: When you score at 4-1/4″ on side one the line will be ‘depressed’ and on the other side the score line will be poking out. I call that bit the “mountain”. And my way of getting that firm crease is to “squish” that mountain. It’s easier on the fibers of the card stock as well.
  • Basic White: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″: Place largest postage die equidistant from all four sides and run it through the Die Cutting Machine.
  • Smoky Slate: 5-1/4″ x 4-1/8″: Attach (with green glue) this layer to the back of the 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ layer of Basic White die cut layer
  • Basic White: 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″: Die cut using second to largest postage rectangle.
    • Run through Embossing machine placing the “canceled postage stamp” image in the upper right corner.
    • Stamp letters in the lower left corner using Memento Black ink.
    • With scrap, stamp the little envelope, also using Memento Black ink. Trim with scissors.
  • Real Red: 3-1/4″ x 2″: Stamp post box image using Memento Black ink; trim with scissors. Layer over stamped envelopes and secure with Dimensionals. Glue single envelope to the post box slot.
  • Stamp greeting on the stamped envelope pair using Real Red ink. Color fountain pen with Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker.

The beauty of this layout is that you can add almost any greeting to the card front. And it’s bound to make the day of the person who receives it in their mailbox. Let me know when YOU send this or any other hand-stamped card to someone special. I’m sure their reaction will be well worth your effort. I love getting phone calls or texts from friends to whom I’ve sent birthday, valentine, Christmas or no-special-reason cards. It makes my “sending” heart sing just like their “receiving” hearts did.

On the business end of stamping, Sale-a-Bration ends at the end of this coming week. February 28th. If you have made purchases during the past two months you’ll have earned some free stamping products with your orders. Also, if you have any inspiration or thoughts about joining the Stampin’ Up! family of demonstrators, there’s one heck of a deal waiting for you before Sale-a-Bration ends.

I’ve been a demo since 1996 (!) and have met so many fun people–fellow stampers, customers and class-attendees–over the years and I haven’t regretted one minute. While I’ve never earned a bonus trip I have attended every Convention since 1996, including the first one in Europe (Brussels) in 2016. (It helps having a hubby who worked for the airlines and I could fly “for free-ISH” and having had wonderful European exchange students over the years whom I could visit while “over there”.)

My convention roommates have been other demos from around the country (New York, Indiana, California and me (California/Idaho), who I met on line–and then we roomed together year after year. What fun! This year’s roomies will be from North Carolina (convention location) and my sister and me. It’s a ton of fun if you are a demonstrator and can work 3 days (plus travel etc) into your schedule.
