I made the decision today to have a wonderful day in the trees. “What” you say? What is she talking about??? I live in a national forest but it really is too cold to go romping around the trees in my back ‘forty’.
Truthfully, January and February are my mega-birthday months and I have the hardest time sending the same card to everyone on my list. Plus I have a few too many stamp sets that I haven’t taken out of their boxes yet that I’m determined to use for these special cards.
Today’s fun was with the In the Trees photopolymer stamp set that debuted in the 2018 Occasions Catalog. This is going to be a great stamp set to use with the Stamparatus when it becomes available in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog in June. I did get to pre-order a Stamparatus in December but it won’t be shipping until early March. Today I just decided to go for it and break out the In the Trees stamp set for three birthday cards.
For some reason I seem to be drawn to stamp sets that sort of tell a story, stamps that need some busy work.
Here’s the first birthday card, for Brandy:
And this one is for when I need it:
As I mentioned above, this stamp set will really lend itself to the upcoming Stamparatus. But in the meantime, first I stamped the tree. Tip, you should really use a foam pad beneath under your cardstock.
First, using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the tree. Then the ‘rope’ image and finally the banner. Then I stamped (no photo except the finished cards) the ‘rope’ image again and finally the second tree.
I also stamped and cut out a ‘mask’ of the tree image on computer paper. Place the mask over the left tree and then stamp a third tree.
I used Stampin’ Blends to for my coloring. L-O-V-E the Stampin’ Blends!
I’ll probably be adding a few clouds to each card before I mail them later today.
- Whisper White Thick cardstock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″, folded and burnished (creased firmly) with a Bone Folder.
- Colored layer: 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″
- Whisper White Thick stamped layer: 5-1/4″ x 4″
Again, I colored the images with various Stampin’ Blends.
Which color combo is your favorite? I chose each one based on the recipient. And I’m so glad I stepped outside my comfort box and pulled out a new stamp set so I could have a wonderful day in the trees.
