Slim Line Card

Two bits got me excited about finally attempting to make one of the quite popular slim line cards.  I unburied this card, from long long ago, while purging my stamping space once again.  (I’ve been in this new space here in Idaho for a year now and it’s obvious to me that I need to do some serious reorganizing.)

3-1/4" x 6-1/2" slim line card
I love everything about this card: the colors, the stamp set, the images……. I’m so glad I kept the card and really wish I still had this stamp set. I don’t even know if all the images were from this one set. Color me DUH!

Below is the sketch I’m using as a layout inspiration.  Check the Freshly Made website for inspiration now and then.  www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com.  It’s a fun way to get started.

Freshly Made Slimlline Sketch

Today’s card is 6-1/2″ x 6-1/2″, scored at 3-1/4″, same as the measurements of the ice skating card.  And no, I didn’t put my image in the lower right corner, per the sketch, once I got going.  But the sketch was definitely my courage and inspiration to get going.

A Touch of Ink slim line card

I used two items from this year’s Sale-a-Bration (aka SAB) offerings:  A Touch of Ink stamp set and the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper.  If you don’t have a copy of the SAB brochure, click on the words Sale-a-Bration  for the PDF link.  Let me know if you’d like me to mail one to you.  You might also want to 2021 January-June Mini Catalog. Send me an email and I’ll get one of each off to you.

Sale-a-Bration Items Used:

Also used:

Basic Layer, Berry Delightful DSP
Basic White Thick Card Stock: 6-1/2″ x 6-1/2″, scored at 3-1/4″ DSP: 6-1/4″ x 3″

Flower from A Touch of Ink S-A-B stamp set (FREE with $50 purchase)
Basic White layer, 6″ x 2-3/4″.  Use Crumb Cake Classic Ink to stamp the flower image.

Add the hummingbird
Still using Crumb Cake Classic Ink, add the hummingbird to the layer.

Add the scattered array of dots to the card front
Add three groupings of scattered dots to the card front as shown, still using Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Use Misty Moonlight and Granny Apple Green Classic Inks to images
Ignore the wedge of sponge…..I changed my mind and used the awesome Blending Brushes to gently add color to the card front.  But do use (if you choose to) the Granny Apple Green and Misty Moonlight Classic Inks.

Add color to the hummer using images from the A Touch of Ink stamp set
Stamp the image on scrap or Grid Paper before adding it to the hummingbird to lighten up the intensity of the color.

Add color to the hummer using images from the A Touch of Ink stamp set
I did add the ink color to the photopolymer image using that wedge of sponge that I suggested you ignore up above. Dab the ink pad with the sponge and apply it to the image several times. Then stamp the image onto the card layer.

Use Misty Moonlight to fill in the flowers.
After inking the stamp image, stamp once on scrap paper (“stamping off”)  and then stamp the flower.  Then use the Blending Brush  and Misty Moonlight Classic Ink to gently add color around the flower and the bird. Work in a gentle circular pattern.

Make several cards at one time
Add your greeting using Misty Moonlight Classic Ink. Then add card front layer to the DSP layer which is attached to the Basic White Thick card front.  Add a Rhinestone to the hummingbird’s eye for a bit of bling.

A Touch of Ink slim line card
Add a Leaf Branch to the envelope using Granny Apple Green Classic Ink.

The envelope……  Believe it or not, wa-a-a-y back when, Stampin’ Up! had Open End Whisper White Small Envelopes (product #107286) and I still have some.  Crazy!  I’ll work out a simple pattern today, for this 6-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ card and post it tomorrow.

How can you get today’s Sale-a-Bration products?  Place a Stampin’ Up! order (preferably in my Stampin’ Up! store unless you are a demonstrator or have a demonstrator with whom you normally work) of $100 or more to ‘earn’ them.  The Touch of Ink stamp set and the Berry Blessings Stamp Set + Berry Delightful DSP (remember, that’s Designer Series Paper) are each FREE with a $100 purchase.  All other items in the SAB brochure are FREE with a $50 purchase.

When you place an order in my Stampin’ Up! store, please use the January code below.  At the end of the month, I’ll send you a thank you gift for shopping with me.  🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with the envelope template/instructions.  The rest of today is ‘shot’ so I have to vacate my computer now and take care of other business.  Thanks for stopping by!
