Today’s Happy Birthday to you card is for Tabea, my German “granddaughter”. She’ll be 16! What makes Tabea and her siblings special to me (and our family) is that they’re the children of our exchange student, Stephan, from 1985-86. He was with us for 13 months and has remained a part of our family ever since. He was 17-18 when he lived with us and now HIS KIDS are in that age bracket!
This main layer of her card is from the New Horizons 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack and the balloons, greeting and banner are from the Birthday Treats Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. That “card” came to me in a swap, atop a piece of Basic White card stock. Then I layered it onto a Fresh Freesia 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card base. The balloons on the envelope are from the Spring Corners photopolymer stamp set. They were a perfect find.
The inside greetings came from the Layered Thoughts photopolymer stamp set. I love the energy of the HAPPY BIRTHDAY and then the gentle contrast of the ‘to you’.
I’ve got to say, it’s fun to take a simple card from a group swap and morph it in to something very special and personal.
