It’s alway fun to create one card and celebrate two totally different occasions. Today I used the Painted Poppies stamp set to create both a birthday and an anniversary hand-stamped card.

This Painted Poppies stamp set is so versatile.
Stamping TIPS:
- Card front: Crumb Cake card stock, 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ and gently burnished with the Bone Folder.
- First layer: Basic Black card stock, 4″ x 5-1/4″. I attached this layer with a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. You have to be cautious when using this liquid glue because if your card stock is too thin it will show through which really isn’t so pretty! Today’s card stocks can handle it.
- Second layer: Very Vanilla card stock, cut to 4-1/4″ by 5-1/2″, stamp with Birch background stamp and Crumb Cake Classic Ink; then, using the Big Shot (or other die cutting machine), die cut with largest rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.
- Using Memento Black ink, stamp the two poppy shapes onto the Very Vanilla layer as shown in the sample.
- Stamp the ‘smudge’ image over the larger poppy using Poppy Parade Classic ink.
- Using Light and Dark Poppy Parade blends markers and the Color Lifter Blends Marker, color in the two smaller poppy images. Color the centers using the Dark Daffodil Delight blends Marker.
- Draw freehand stems using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker (not shown in the products used images above).
- Using Memento Black ink, stamp a leaf or two (I only used one) along one of the stems. Color in using Light and Dark Mossy Meadow Blends Markers.
- Attach this layer to the card front with a thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- Using a Basic Black card stock 3/4″ x 2-3/4″ scrap, rub over it with the Embossing Buddy. The Embossing Buddy removes any static from the card. Then stamp the greeting of your choice (adjust the size of your scrap according to the size of your greeting) using VersaMark ink. Sprinkle with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder, shake off excess, and set with the Heat Tool only until all embossing powder has ‘melted’.
- Create a ‘flag’ on the left side of the greeting piece using your Paper Snips. TIP: Cut from the center of the left side to about 1/4″ into the scrap. Then cut from each corner to the end of the center cut. You’ll come out with the perfectly aligned flag. Attach the greeting to the card front as shown.
- Place three tiny dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue randomly on the card front. Cover those little dots with sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins pack.
- Inside card: Attach another piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla card stock, stamped lightly using Crumb Cake Classic Ink and the Birch background stamp, inside the card. Add your message and your card is ready to mail or hand deliver after you’ve stamped your Very Vanilla envelope with a poppy or two!

Next time I would definitely use Very Vanilla Stampin’ Emboss Powder but the copper is a nice change-up.
