I’m in Kiel–Altenholz actually–northern Germany today, enjoy the family of my German ‘son’ who was our exchange student in 1989-90. Stephan got to experience both Hawaii with us and the Loma Prieta earthquake. He quickly became an integral part of our family. I don’t know if this event will translate to paper but let me try. We were on vacation on Kauai and asked this as-yet-unknown-student if he’d like to meet us there. YES! was his answer. Due to airline punctuality, his flight into Los Angeles was late and he missed one flight to Oahu which then transferred him to Kauai. Fortunately my aunt lived on Oahu at the time, rescued him, housed him overnight and they had a jolly time. She sent him on to Kauai in the morning and we met him at the little airport there, having to guess which 17 year old boy might be him. We found each other. That night at dinner, for some lazy and otherwise unknown reason I served this kid his first meal with his new American family: Hamburger Helper. Well, the hamburger helper need help and my husband offered him the pepper shaker saying “Pepper?” And Stephan, with totally dry humor said “Yes, that is pepper!” And that was the start of our friendship. I can never have someone hand me a pepper shaker without visualizing that event at a condo dinner table in Kauai with our brand new exchange student who would be with us for the next 12 months. The rest is history.
And now, back to stamping.
I’m feeling like I’m really on a roll for quick and easy cards that don’t use a lot of supplies. Granted, this card does use three stamp sets but that’s it. No embellishments necessary.
Here are the measurements for the card stock:
- Soft Sky: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ and folded
- Mossy Meadow: 5″ x 3-3/4″
- Whisper White: 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
I’m sure you can look/see how to make the card, but just in case……..
- Stamp the background image on the Whisper White card stock using Soft Sky Classic Ink.
- Stamp the trees and the greeting of your choice using Mossy Meadow Classic ink.
- Attach the layers to the card front and you’re done.
I just love the simple beauty of the card.
Both the You’ve Got This and the Wonderland stamp sets are also available in Clear Mount. If you click on those names you can check them out.
