Playing around with new products while participating in a Monday Mystery Stamping (aka MMS) is a great way to (1) get to know the new product and (2) let your imagination or creativity run a bit loose. I say that because you never know what the next step in MMS is going to be. Your final project might be a ‘wow’ or it could be a ‘bust’.

Work in Progress Thoughts and Re-Thought Thoughts
I try to select a stamp set that is new or that I don’t used very often or that just jumps out and says “use me!” for each Monday Mystery Stamping. My first choice was the new, cute, whimsical By My Side stamp set.
Designer Series Paper Reveal
Since I don’t have very much Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the new catalog, I’ve chosen the multi-colored Bright & Beautiful 6″ x 6″ DSP

Chosen Stamp Set for this MMS Project
My gut told me that the whimsical By my Side stamp set wasn’t going to work for this card layout so I moved on to my second choice, Beautiful Balloons. I used the stamp set as well as the coordinating dies. But I kept the same colors and Designer Series Paper.
I threw in some fun new and returning colors for a bright and cheery card. It seems that every 6-7-8 years Stampin’ Up! presents us with a color refresh. What are deemed stale, out-of-vogue colors are removed from the line and either returning colors or brand new colors replace them. In today’s card I used some of those new colors:
- Berry Burst (returning)
- Azure Afternoon (new)
- Lemon Lime Twist (returning)
- Lemon Lolly (new)
Remember, this card was made as a ‘mystery card’, only getting tips, step by step, for our creation, not knowing what the outcome will be. I do recommend Sharon Armstrong’s Monday Mystery Stamping projects if you want to test your listening/interpreting skills. You can find her on FaceBook. My card used a new stamp set, new dies, new Stampin’ Up! colors, new Designer Series Paper……….and voila, a bright and cheery card that will hopefully make someone smile when they pull it from their mailbox.
Thank you so much for popping in today. Please leave a comment below if you’re looking for a specific project or technique. And don’t forget to make a card and then make someone’s day by sending it to them.
