Mediterranean Moments and Watercolor Pencils

I’m lucky enough to have been to Europe several times and I can just visualize street scenes like those in the Mediterranean Moments stamp set.  My daughter studied in Lyon, France for a year and some of these street scenes will work there for sure.  I have family in Switzerland as well and I can definitely see the chairs and table in one of the small villages along Lac Leman.

I created a little problem for myself with this card, knowing how I wanted it to look but not quite knowing how to get it there.  This is my final card:

I wanted some dimension to the card but really sort of started it backwards.  I cut an oval out from the card front and then placed the stamped image behind it.  So much for that “dimensionalized” layer I thought I would have.  I was going to cut a small oval ring to place around oval cut out but it just didn’t look like what I wanted……..so I layered the Cajun Craze piece of card stock, from which I’d cut the oval, over the image and card front layer.

I used the Layering Ovals Framelits to work on the oval piece I thought I wanted to use.

Then the card front needed something more.  Silly me has no Lace Trim so I chose the earthy 5/8″ Burlap ribbon, cut in half lengthwise.   This is the original addition of the ribbon:

The addition of the little knotted piece of ribbon created the balance that finally made me as happy as I was going to be.

The simple ‘let’s celebrate’ greeting is from the Balloon Adventures photopolymer stamp set.  It’s stamped using Cajun Craze Classic Ink.

Finally, I colored in the images using the new Watercolor Pencils from the 2017 Occasions catalog.  Then I enriched the colors by going over them with my Aqua Painter.  You can also use a Blender Pen.
