Today’s goal was to create a boy’s soccer themed birthday card for my Idaho grandson’s ninth birthday which is coming right around the cornerĀ He’s played soccer for a number of years and is now on a team in his new home of Idaho.Ā What a great way to meet some new friends.
Since soccer is his sport of choice, I thought a soccer related card would be perfect.Ā However, I don’t have any sports stamp sets.Ā So, I decided to use the Hexagons 3-D Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder for creating my focal layer.Ā I’d cut pieces to create my own ‘soccer ball’.
I ran one 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White card stock and a long scrap piece of Basic Black card stock through my Big Shot using that Hexagon Folder.
Because I wanted to make my card circular, like a soccer ball, I used my retired Circles Collection Framelits Dies because they have larger circles than the current great, but smaller, Layering Circles Framelits Dies.Ā I used the largest circle for the Basic Black card base and then the next smaller one for the “soccer ball”.
After learning that his team colors are blue and white, I changed that Basic Black card base to Pacific Point.Ā The banner is from the fun and nostalgic Birthday Delivery stamp set.Ā The banner was die cut using the Birthday Friends Framelits Dies.Ā Then I adhered the die cut piece onto a scrap of Pacific Point card stock and ‘fussy cut’ it with my Paper Snips so it would stand out a bit better from the card front.Ā I attached it with Dimensionals.
Inside:
Using the Large Numbers Framelits Dies I die cut a “9” from the scrap of the ‘soccer ball’ piece and then attached it to the inside flap of the card.
Finally, the finished card.Ā It goes into the mail today.
I was fun to force myself to create today’s boy’s soccer themed birthday card.Ā It was definitely a work-in-progress as I made it as well as being a work of heart.Ā Enjoy!
