Sometimes your life can be made easier by having a go-to card layout that is mega flexible. And your imagination is the only limit as to what you create. Check out these two cards.
Do you see any similarities? Actually there are many.
For both cards:
- 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ card front, either Whisper White or Very Vanilla
- 5-1/5″ x 4″ layer, same color as the card front, run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using an embossing folder to give it texture.
- 4-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of card stock that coordinates with a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper
- Greeting of your choice, stamped on Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock scrap.
- Coordinating piece of card stock to layer behind the greeting which is then placed in the lower right corner of the card front and attached using Dimensionals.
- Embellishments of your choice: jewels, die cut layer, bling, ribbon.
That’s pretty much it. One of my cards opens on the right. The other opens at the bottom.
Change up your Designer Series Paper, colored card stock, embossing folders and bling and greetings and you have totally different cards even while using identical layouts.

TIPS:
- After running your 5-1/2″ x 4″ piece of card stock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, attach it to the card front using LOTS of Dimensionals to allow it to “pop”.
- Attach the DSP (Designer Series Paper) to the coordinating card stock and attach both to the card front as shown, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (aka ‘green glue’). This will help it stick to the embossed layer.
- Stamp your greeting on a scrap of Whisper White card stock using coordinating Classic Ink.
- Either punch it out or trim with the Paper Trimmer.
- Attach this greeting to a coordinating piece of card stock that you’ll either trim with Paper Snips or punch out.
- Tip for the ‘cozy Christmas’ greeting layer: I punched out a piece of Shaded Spruce card stock using the same Washi Label punch and then cut it in half horizontally (the long way). Apply adhesive of your choice to the back of the stamped and punched or cut out greeting and then attach one half of coordinating piece of card stock to the upper back side of the greeting so the colored edge peeks out from behind. Repeat for the bottom edge.
Try this layout and share it with us. Even within one pack of DSP you could create many totally different cards. Swap out the DSP, the greeting and the embellishments and you can WOW your friends.
