Perhaps what could be more lovely than a tree would be a simple card made with the Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree stamp set (115026, p.114, 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog). This stamp set has been around for quite a while but it's such a wonderful, easy to use, versatile set.
What makes this card 'pop' is the simple treatment of the Designer Series Paper.
Using the Big Shot Die Cut Machine and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, run an Old Olive piece from the Patterns Stack-Brights-Designer Series Paper (117155), through the Big Shot. Then take that piece of embossed DSP and gently rub the surface with a Sanding Block (124304, p. 207 of the new Idea Book & Catalog) to remove some of the color, exposing the white core of the Designer Series Paper.
I used the Old Olive Classic stamp pad and Chocolate Chip marker to color the trees. After stamping the entire stamp image with the Old Olive ink, I went back and rather sloppily applied the Chocolate Chip marker to the trunk and out into some of the branches. Don't labor over it—just splash the darker color close to 'in place'.
This card can easily be used as a note card, a sympathy card, a birthday card and more. Pretty versatile!
I'll be swapping this card with fellow Sudsol members on Friday at Stampin' Up!'s convention. In return I'll be receiving 66 cards, full of new ideas, papers, stamp sets and accessories. Yes, I'll be sharing.
