REALITY: CHRISTMAS 2015 IS HISTORY

And I hope Christmas 2015 holds a good memory in your family history book.

My children surprised me in early December with the proposal that they actually come up to our mountain Sanctuary and join us for Christmas here rather than Russ and me driving to the San Francisco Bay Area.  It also gave my daughter a break from always having to prepare her home for the onslaught.

Why come to the mountains this year?

  • The proximity of Christmas Day to the weekend.
  • The promise of fresh snow for Christmas Day (we got 8″ of powder Thursday and it is still on the ground)
  • Dodge Ridge Ski Area only 30 minutes ‘up the hill’ from us, open and ready to great them.
  • It’s been at least three years since they’ve been able to come up here to fresh snow.

It was a wonderful and extremely busy weekend.  Confession:  I realized that we now entertain ‘retiree mountain style’ — very casually and laid back!  But we had a fabulous weekend.  It ended with watching my grandkids’ favorite video, Gumby, the Movie (1995, VHS, a new clay animation adventure!)  They watch this old video every time they’re here.  (Quiet time for adults!)

And now I have ME time so I can think and post a fresh blog article.  To pull this post into stamping relevancy, I gave my almost 9 year old, crafty granddaughter a stampin’ tote filled with retired Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, a This & That journal, complete with stickers and die cuts, decorative edged Stampin’ Up! retired scissors, a few other sized journals and a little ‘purse sized’ spiral notepad decorated with high heels, bling, and a matching pen.  She loved it all and can now have her own crafting booty.  Did I take photos?  Of course not.  I was too wrapped up in the moment which is a good thing.

Now, back to reality.  It’s Tuesday.  Deals of the Week coming up.  Plus I have an unopened box of goodies from Stampin’ Up! — 2016 Occasions catalog supplies.  Can’t wait to get down to stampin’ some samples to share.
