OH HAPPY DAY………

I have said in the past that I'm a fan of Mary Brown, Stampin' Up! demonstrator from Ohio, and her simple style of stamping.  Her card from Dec 30 is no exception.

Oh Happy Day Birthday

One of this year's goals is to try new things, new stamp sets and new looks.  This card just says 'happy' to me and I've made several that will be sent to my January birthday friends.  Here's my version:

Pair of HAPPY DAY cards

Single Happy Day B.D. Card

How do you like that embossing?  How'd I do it?  After rubbing the Basic Black card stock with the Embossing Buddy, I stamped it with the largest image from the brand new Starburst Sayings stamp set from the just released 2014 Occasions Catalog, using VersaMark ink.  I used three different (duh) Embossing Powders:  Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi.

Using a small spoon (like the pink sampler spoon from Baskin-Robbins), sprinkle a small amount of Embossing Powder on one side of the stamped image.  Make the 'inside edge' a little wiggly.  Shake off powder onto scrap paper and return to the jar.  Then apply another color, also using the spoon, immediately adjacent the first color.  Shake the powder off over the first color.  It will not stick; it'll merely slide over the first color.  Then add your third color and shake it off the same as for the second layer–over the previous layers.  Finally, heat emboss your image.  Stampin' Up!'s heat embossing tool is really great because it 'blows' very gently and does not spray the powder.

Now you can die cut your stamped and embossed image with the brand-spanking new Starburst Framelit Dies.  The small piece is stamped with VersaMark, covered with Black Embossing Powder and then heat embossed.

The 'happy birthday' image is stamped on Wild Wasabi card stock using VersaMark ink and then embossed with Black Embossing Powder.

Both the Happy Birthday and the Celebrate are attached with Dimensionals.

Rhinestone Jewels are just randomly positioned.
