The Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (6″ x 6″) kept calling to me to use it for a simple stamping card so before I cleared my desk I went for it. Today’s card could have supported many greetings but, because it is so warm and gentle, with lovely soft colors, I decided to go for a sympathy card. Surprisingly I’ve needed several of those lately.
Thoughtful Journey 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper
The Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper (DSP) is a series of watercolor images and abstract designs within the same large color palette. They’re just so ‘fluid’ and dreamy. I chose the pattern on the upper left corner. And I flipped the leftover segment, which was approximately 6″ x 2″, for the flap of the envelope.
If you look back at this previous post you’ll see that these two cards are almost identical — except for the greeting and the pattern of the DSP and color of card stock.
Products Used for Today’s Version
Product ListHow To: (measurements)
- Basic White Thick card stock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. Fold on score line.
- Basic White card stock: 5-1/4″ x 4″: run through Cut and Emboss Machine using the Painted Texture Embossing Folder and attach to card front using ‘green glue’. Also a 2-1/2″ x 1″ scrap for greeting.
- Boho Blue card stock: 5 pieces 1-1/8″ x 2-5/8″
- Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper: 2-1/2″ x 4″: Cut into 4 2-1/2″ x 1″ pieces, keeping them in ‘order’ and attach these, using Multipurpose Glue (aka ‘green glue’) to 4 of the Boho Blue pieces. Second reminder: Be sure to line the DSP images in the order they were before they were cut apart so they look ‘logical’ on the card front.
- Using multipurpose glue, attach these four layered pieces to the card front as shown. TIP: Position to top layered piece, then the bottom layered piece, and then — keeping the pieces in order — balance the other two between them.
- Use Boho Blue Classic ink to stamp greeting onto Basic White scrap. Layer the greeting onto remaining Boho Blue 1-1/8″ x 2-5/8″ piece and attach to card front using Dimensionals.
- Optional: place a 1/2″ x 5-1/5″ strip of the same DSP inside the card about 1/8″ from the right edge.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
Take a 6″ x 2-3/8″ piece of matching/coordinating DSP and attach it to the outside flap of the envelope using ‘green glue’, sliding the DSP right up to the top of the flap. Turn it over and carefully trim the excess using Paper Snips (nice sharp scissors). It gives such a nice finish to your project.
I really think this card will make any lucky recipient smile when it lands in their mailbox. And YOU should be smiling too for making such a lovely easy card — which you WILL mail to that special recipient. Go for it!
