Encircled in Nature Sympathy Card, part 2

Although today’s post is “Part 2” of yesterday’s sympathy card, it could very well have been part 1. And it can also serve many purposes by simply changing the sentiment.

I love the simplicity of this card. The only embellishment is a twine bow and some fun scoring.

Today’s Main Tool:

Ingredients and Measurements:

  • Card Base: Basic White Thick card stock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
  • First Layer: Old Olive card stock: 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
  • Decorated Layer: Basic White: 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
  • Using the Simply Scored Tool/Board, score the 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ layer at 1/4″ and 3/8″ from the edge on all four sides. You can present this layer on your card with the score lines facing ‘up’ or facing ‘down’ according to your preference. Mine are ‘up’.
  • Stamp the center of the layer as you choose. Check yesterday’s post for how I stamped my sympathy card.
  • Stamp your greeting using Old Olive (or an appropriate color fro you design!) classic ink.
  • Wrap twine around this layer, between the stamped image and the greeting, several times, securing it with a knot and then tying the ends in a bow.
  • Attach the stamped layer to Old Olive layer using adhesive of your choice. My choice is usually Multipurpose Liquid Glue, aka ‘green glue’.
  • Attach these two layers to the card front, also using ‘green glue’.

Check out yesterday’s post to see that I used a piece of Old Olive ribbon that I wrapped around the dry embossed and stamped layer with a piece of Old Olive ribbon, securing it to the back side with Stampin’ Seal + and topped it with a little knotted piece that’s attached with a Glue Dot.

I hope today’s version of my sympathy card — which was complete after I remembered to share the dry embossing — gives you a fairly quick and easy idea for making a last-minute elegant card. I can see this done with many stamp sets and greetings. Can you? Please share if you do create one. Or two. Share them on my FaceBook page (StampingWithBlythe) or right here in the comment section.

Thank you so much for popping in today. Please leave a comment below if you’re looking for a specific project or technique. And don’t forget to make a card and then make someone’s day by sending it to them.
