Sympathy cards are always tough to create without becoming a part of the card, thinking about who it’s for. And sometimes the need for such a card arrives unexpectedly. That is the situation for my card today. I knew right away that I wanted to be ‘out in nature’ with it. Fortunately I had recently purchased the ‘online only’ Encircled In Nature Bundle: a stamp set and dies. I did have to reach out to another “words” stamp set, Something Fancy for my sentiment. Fortunately this set is not retiring. It can be found on page 34 of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog and page 79 of the soon to be released 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. (Need one of these new catalogs??? Please ask and I’ll get one into your hands. I’ll also provide an online link as soon as it’s available.)
Masking:
I used a punched mask to create today’s card. First I punched a 2-3/8″ circle from a piece of scrap paper that’s roughly the size of the stamped layer.
Quick Tip: stop working on your card now and wait for tomorrow’s post before proceeding. Sorry for presenting this sort of backwards but sometimes that’s just the way life operates! Little clue: Look closely at the stamped layer and you’ll see the step I have omitted today.
Please come back for part 2 — which should actually have been part 1 — tomorrow. You can see a hint of my oversight on the card fronts in the photo above. Measurements/supplies tomorrow as well.
Thank you so much for popping in today. Please leave a comment below if you’re looking for a specific project or technique. And don’t forget to make a card and then make someone’s day by sending it to them.
