Well……..I’m going to blame that home improvement project for not getting this post finished when I planned to. Hmmmm. When you can get two of us (Russ/Blythe) to work together to get that slowly-coming-together-project actually finished and put into place, you take advantage.
I did, on Monday (yesterday), play along with Sharon Armstrong and her Monday Mystery Stamping on FaceBook again. It’s so much fun stepping forward into the unknown once a week. I cut my card stock on Monday morning although she does post the cutting instructions on Sunday afternoon. Here are this week’s cutting instructions, aka Clue #1:
- Designer Series Paper: 1″ x 5-1/4″ (I used Fine Art Floral DSP)
- Colored card stock: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (I used Petal Pink)
- Same colored card stock: 1/2″ x 5-1/4″ (Petal Pink again)
- Basic White card stock: 2 pcs, 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Sentiment Stamp (I used Butterfly Gala)
- Classic Ink to coordinate with your project (I used Memento Black and Petal Pink Classic Ink)
- Circle Punch or Die to fit Sentiment Stamp (I used Stitched Shapes – circles)
- No punch or dies??? Have paper trimmer handy (I used the Butterfly Duet punch)
- Scrap of Basic White card stock
- Scrap of same colored card stock as above
- Image stamp…..think flowers or butterflies or something smallish (again, Butterfly Gala – greeting and small butterfly)
- Die Cutting machine
- Embossing Folder (I used Tasteful Textile and Old World Paper 3D)
- Liquid Glue
- Dimensionals
- Embellishments (I used Rhinestones that were colored with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Marker)
OK, you got ’em all assembled? Next……let’s put the card together.
- Tuck 1/2″ x 5-1/4″ strip of colored card stock behind the DSP (Designer Series Paper) strip, allowing about 1/8″ – 1/4″ to show; set aside.
- Run 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White cs through Cutting & Emboss machine using your Embossing Folder
- Attach this layer to card front
- Attach 2nd piece of Basic White cs to inside of the card
- Stamp greeting on scrap on Basic White cs and punch or die cut
- Punch out, die cut or cut with paper trimmer, a layer to place under your greeting
- Attach greeting and background layers together with adhesive
- Attach the DSP strip (with colored cs peeking out on the right side) to the left side of the card front over the embossed layer with Liquid Glue.
- Add greeting layers to right side of card front using Liquid Adhesive
- Stamp a small image on basic white scrap and fussy cut, die cut or punch
- Add this piece to lower left of greeting, attaching it with a Dimensional
- Add embellishments if appropriate
As you can see, I created two cards, experimenting with two different embossing folders. And I put my greetings together a bit differently from each other. I use these Monday Mystery stamping gatherings as a time to gently experiment, hopefully coming out with two nice and usable cards!
I promised this card to you quite a few hours ago but since it isn’t yet midnight I’m going to post it to the blog now. It’s 9 p.m. mountain time! Enjoy. If you have any questions, please ask!
