January Birthday Card of the Month

I decided to start 2019 off on a different foot than in previous years and create my January birthday card of the month at the beginningĀ of the month rather than waiting for the last minute. Ā  I sat myself down, using one of my new favorite stamp sets, Humming Along. Ā  This set is one of the first I purchased so I could make a series of cards, birthday and otherwise. Ā The humming bird is dear to one of my dearest friends and I can’t not think of her every time I see one.

Supplies:

  • Humming Along Stamp Set
  • Balmy Blue Classic Ink + Ink Refill
  • Basic Gray Classic Ink
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Aqua Painter
  • Spritzer filled with water
  • Hummingbird Framelits
  • Big Shot
  • Black Memento Ink
  • Stampin’ Blends
  • Old Olive Linen Thread (14″, cut in half and made into a ‘bunny ear’ bow)

Spritz watercolor paper (3-3/4″ x 5″) Ā with water. Ā Load Aqua Painter with Balmy Blue ink from lid of inked and flood spritzed area with color. Ā Set aside to dry.

Using ‘random background’ cutout die, place at angle and cut out an area of watercolor paper.

Using Black Memento Ink stamp the humming bird on a scrap of Whisper White Thick card stockĀ (top-below). Ā Color with Stampin’ BlendsĀ (bottom-below).

  • Balmy Blue Combo pack
  • Old Olive combo pack
  • Smoky Slate combo pack
  • Calypso Coral light
  • Color Lifter

Use the Hummingbird Framelit and the Big Shot to die cut the birds. Ā Then attach them to the card front using Dimensionals.

Stampin the greeting, using Basic Gray Classic Ink onto Balmy Blue card stock. Ā Your choice of cutting it out with the Paper Trimmer (straight edges) or using the die in the Framelits set.

TIP for stamping and coloring (with Stampin’ Blends) the lovelyĀ hibiscus flowers on the envelopes: Ā inset a piece of cardboard inside the envelope so the color doesn’t bleed through to the back of the envelope.

I have to dash now — Family Christmas (January 12th!) about 125 miles away. Ā I’ll check back to see if I’ve left something out–like the product links. Ā Leave a comment if you see a gross (or minor) oversight. Ā And January people: Ā I hope you enjoy your January Birthday card of the month. Ā šŸ™‚
