Hello Autumn

hello autumn

In honor of the official arrival of Fall a few days ago, I want to share the Hello Autumn card ‘my’ stampers made at our Little Library in the Woods last Thursday.

hello autumn

There were eight guests stamping at the library this week and we had so much fun, working our way through, step-by-step, sharing supplies and creating this card.  I made sure they got a little “up-and-out -of-their-chairs-time” by doing two steps of the card over at the Big Shot table.

The first Big Shot stretch was to run a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock inside the beautiful and gentle Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) through the machine.  The TIPs were to not put the card stock beyond the textured trees inside the folder and the be sure to position the fold of the TIEF toward the handle.  There were lots of oooh and aaahs with their embossed result.

Next came stamping two leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set using Cajun Craze and Old Olive Classic Inks.  Back to the Big Shot now to cut out those leaves.  Using Copper Glimmer Paper from the Joyous Noel 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Paper pack and the veined leaf die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, cut out the leaf.  I found it best to run the die back and forth through the Big Shot FOUR times.  Then use the Big Shot Die Brush to remove the ‘chads’ from the die cut leaf.

Hello Autumn

Wrap a 6-1/2″ piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon (141487) around the sides of the Whisper White embossed layer and secure with SNAIL adhesive that has been applied to the back side of the piece.  Then apply SNAIL to all four sides of the back and attach to the card front.  Attach the leaves in any pattern of your choice.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to position the solid leaves and a Mini Glue Dot to secure the outline glimmer leaf (just above the stem).

After stamping your greeting with Cajun Craze ink, punch it out any way that works for you.  I used my (again) retired Washi  punch.

Hello Autumn
TIP: When the punch is smaller than the greeting, slip one end ONLY of the stamp words into the punch from the back of the punch. Then turn greeting around and slip it into the punch.

If you’re ever in the Sonora, California area (about 150 miles east of San Francisco) on the third Thursday of the month, drive Hwy 108 ‘up the hill’ for 15 miles to Mi Wuk Village and pop into our Little Library in the Woods.  It’s just below the Mi-Wok Ranger Station.    For $3, no reservations, no experience, you’ll make two hand-stamped greeting cards (including envelopes).  This is my sharing of community service that I’ve been doing since February 2004 and it’s always fun.  We have a great time stamping together and it’s always fun when we can welcome new friends and a new season………Hello Autumn.
