I had to rush out the door the other day when I posted my color challenge card and I totally forgot to tell you how I sponged the two areas on the card.
Using a piece of computer paper that was larger than my card front, I tore a piece from one edge that had some variety to it.
(Just ignore the subsequent stamping on what was a clean piece of paper when I started the card.)
First I placed the small piece upside down from how you see it above onto the clean piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Using Early Espresso classic ink I sponged the area below the mask to get a rich dark color.
Then I placed the larger mask piece, flipped upside down, so it covered the dark area line like a puzzle piece.  I also placed a 1-1/4″ circle punched mask in the left center area. TIP: Use a sticky note for that 1-1/4″ punched mask. Once in position, I sponged the area gently with Tangelo Twist and Bermuda Bay classic inks.
Next to last step:Â I stamped the Early Expresso inked up image from Serene Silhouettes onto the sponged area.
Last step: swipe the area where the greeting will be placed with the Embossing Buddy. Stamp the greeting with VersaMark ink and sprinkle it with Gold Embossing Powder. Heat set with the Heat Tool. Adhere the first two layers together and then wrap them with ribbon of your choice and attach those layers to the card front with Fast Fuse or Snail Adhesive.
