VOILA CHEF THANK YOU CARDS

Today is ‘the morning after the morning after’!  It’s the coherent morning after many days of organizing, prepping and doing.  And cleaning it all up.  It’s also a morning of being thankful for the amazing Fire Auxiliary members who came out to help make our Annual Spaghetti Dinner a success.

We had the men as well as the women on deck, ready to make it all click together.

I woke up Saturday morning with an idea for the thank yous my committee and I will be writing.  They’re a variation of the theme we’ve used in past years:  the long retired Voila stamp set and the Voila to Go accessory set.  This year the chef is on a ‘poster’ that has been affixed on a brick wall.  And he’s holding a bowl of — guess what? — spaghetti on his tray.  I got to use lots of current Stampin’ Up! product to go along with the retired guy.

After I made about 15 of the cards with a sponged background I remembered that I really wanted to put ‘mortar’ around the bricks rather than do the sponging.

Did you notice, on the cards with the brick ‘mortar’ colored in, that the chef did not have ‘mortar’ on him?  That’s because I cut out an image of the chef and laid it over the stamped chef before running the card stock through the Big Shot (using the Brick Wall Textured Embossing Folder).

I used Crystal Effects on the spaghetti noodles, Cajun Craze Class ink with the help of the Aqua Painter on the meatballs and Pacific Point (or Real Red on some) for the Chef’s scarf and pants.

The frame was cut with the two largest squares from the Squares Collection Framelits, the smaller one laid inside the larger one and then run through the Big Shot.  That’s so much fun!!

These cards will be sent to my committee members as well as all of the hard working dedicated Mi Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Auxiliary members and a few community members who pitched in throughout the day, making our annual Spaghetti Dinner a huge success.

I’m so glad that I’m a stamper and that I have the tools, ideas, courage and energy to make my very own, and quite esoteric, thank you cards. And I’m also thankful that I live in my small community with an awesome fire department and an awesome fire Auxiliary that supports our department just as much as physically possible.
