Dainty Delight Birthday

I actually received this lovely Dainty Delight Birthday card a few months ago from a dear stamping friend in Indiana. I liked everything about it so much that I decided it would be a great card to make at one of my semi-monthly Community Center stamping classes.

Avimor Community Center Stamping

There are twelve participants in almost every community center class which is a reasonable amount for me to handle comfortably. They do have to share supplies as they go around the tables so………..while they’re waiting for their turn they get to chat with their neighbors and perhaps meet new friends. In the photo below you can see the worker bees and the chatter bees. We always create two cards. For the second card I always start the tools (ink/stamps/etc) on the opposite side of the room than the first card. And that cute little bell that’s on the table at the bottom of the photo silences them all in an instant! Ding! Ding! Ding. It’s amazing! I only ring it when I have an instruction to share.

This is Really a Clean and Simple Card

With the basic layout of today’s card you really have a clean and simple card that’s open to your imagination. Choose your DSP (Designer Series Paper). Then choose a coordinating piece of card stock from the colors used in the DSP. Then choose a contrasting color of card stock to place between the DSP and your image. Oh yeah……….you need to select a stamp set too! It’ll be easy if you can select a DSP that has a coordinating Stamp Set. But that ‘coordinating stamp set’ isn’t a must-have.

  • Card Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
  • Next Layer: Designer Series Paper: 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Contrasting Card Stock Layer: 4-5/8″ x 3-3/8″
  • (Basic White) Layer for stamping: 4-1/2″ x 3-1/4″
  • Basic White (or card stock of your choice) scrap for greeting
  • Stamp Set, ink, markers or Blends or colored pencils/blender pen, adhesive of your choice
  • Clear Blocks
  • Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Dies to cut greeting (I used Tailor Made Tags)
  • Ribbon (I used Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon, about 9″)
  • Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Bling

While some of the supplies I used are no longer available (like the Dainty Flowers 12″ x 12″ DSP from the Jan-Feb 2023 Sale-a-Bration brochure), you can use any Designer Series Paper and coordinating card stock and accessories and bling to create a similar card. Go for it. And please feel free to share your creation below in a comment or on my FB page. It’s so much fun to see what comes out of someone else’s creativity!

Most of the supplies, as of March 2023, are available in my Stampin’ Up! Online Store. Just click the SHOP HERE link next to my signature below or on the red links in the paragraphs above.

FYI…..

A huge FYI……..Stampin’ Up! will be introducing a “color refresh” with the introduction of the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog at the beginning of April. You’ll be able to shop from that catalog on May 2, 2023. More details as I have them. But basically, some colors will be leaving us, some will be returning and some will be totally new. And as happens with every new Annual Catalog, there will be FIVE new In-Colors and the ’21-’23 In-Colors will be leaving. Tear drops……… We’ll be saying bye-bye to Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia Papaya, Polished Pink and Soft Succulent. OH MY. If you need any card stock, Classic Stampin’ Pads, ink refills, Stampin’ Blends (p. 122) or Stampin’ Write Markers (p. 126) or bling (p. 142) I suggest you order them now. Be sure to use March’s Host Code when prompted: J6JPJTQG
