SIMPLE & QUICK AUTUMN BIRTHDAY CARD

The changes of the seasons are pretty exciting to me.  I love to watch the leaves turning and starting to fall in October/November.  (I don’t like raking up falling leaves though. And with the falling leaves also come multitudes of pine needles in our area.  Never a dull moment!)

I saw a card recently that used splashes of color as the back ground.  These colors could be pastels for spring or summer, Christmas-y colors for the holidays or the golds, burgundys, greens and browns of autumn.  Those are what I’m using for today’s sample.

Autumn Splash Birthday Card

I like the little Rich Razzleberry mat behind the stamped image.  Measurements are

  • Very Vanilla basic card front: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ and folded.
  • Rich Razzleberry layer: 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Very Vanilla stamped layer:  5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″

Do you see the pattern of the decreasing of the sizes of the layers?  The second (RRazzleberry) layer is 1/4″ smaller on each side than the card front.  The next (top) layer is 1/8″ less on each side than the previous layer.

I used the swoosh image from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set and I alternated the top placement of the image almost every time I changed color.  I also didn’t keep the stamped images in a straight line.

After a dusting of the stamped images with the Embossing Buddy, the greeting, from the fabulous Watercolor Words stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink, followed immediately by a ‘dumping’ of Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and a heating/melting of the powder with the Heat Tool.

Final touches are the Rich Razzleberry button from the Brights Designer Buttons, that has been tied up with Old Olive Baker’s Twine and attached to the card front with 3 Mini Glue Dots.
