Frequently Asked Questions About Being A Stampin’ Up! Demo
What will I do as a demonstrator?
You will share your love of paper crafting, creating cards, gifts or scrapbook pages with family and friends. You can do this by running home workshops, classes, events or even on a one to one basis. If you choose to, you will also help others enjoy the fun and flexibility of running their own Stampin’ Up! business.
Will I receive support and training as a demonstrator?
By joining, you will become part of my team and I’ll not only provide you with all the help and support you need but you also get excellent support from Stampin’ Up! You can look forward to
1. A password protected demonstrator website which has lots of resources, patterns, template libraries and an online ordering system.
2. A weekly online article called Succeed Weekly with creative and business ideas just for demonstrators.
3. A free phone number to contact the knowledgeable and friendly Demonstrator Support team.
4. An achievable incentive program for income and awards if you choose to aspire to them.
How will I make money as a demonstrator?
Since customers pay you directly, you will keep 20% of each order placed at the time of payment, this is called “instant income”. You can earn additional money through volume rebates when your monthly sales are $300 and above. If you build a team, you can also earn monthly downline overrides as well.
How much money can I make at this?
Depending on how much time you want to put into your business, you can make whatever income you desire! It is totally up to you and I can show how!
What are the minimum sales requirements?
To stay active as a demonstrator you will need to sell a minimum of $300 per quarter. Most demonstrators find that this goal can be reached in one or two workshops/parties/classes/events per quarter – and even with your own purchases. To stay active as a demo You only need to have a minimum$300 retail sales per quarter Your first quarter target doesn’t start until the first full quarter following the quarter that you join. i.e. if you join on 1st January, you do not have to have meet your first minimum target until 30th JUNE!! – so it can actually be nearly six months to start with.
What if I only want to do this as a hobby? Do I still have to do workshops?
Absolutely not!! Stampin’ Up! supports all demonstrators in the same way, regardless of how big or small their business is. You only need to do workshops if you want to. You can put in your own orders or collect orders from family & friends.
Do I have to keep an inventory of product?
No. You will only order items when someone places an order and pays you in advance, so you won’t need to keep an inventory of products. There is a small selection of items that you may keep on hand such as SNAIL adhesive and other necessities that your customers may run out of.
How much does it cost to get started?
The Starter Kit is only $99. The kit is customizable (choose your own stamp sets at equivalent or lesser value and you may change ink and cardstock colors, too). It includes everything you will need to get your business up and running including stamps, accessories and business supplies. You do not need anything else apart from your Starter Kit to be able to begin your business your way right away. If you join during Sale-A-Bration, you’ll be able to select two additional stamp sets — any stamp set, any price. Those two free sets exclude bundles and Sale-A-Bration sets. Plus, the kit ships for free!
What kind of incentives will I receive as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?
As a new demonstrator, you’ll receive a 30% instant income on your first workshop order of $200 or more if you place it within 45 days of signing up. You have the ability to be your own “hostess” and earn free hostess sets and products on your own personal orders or orders that you collect from others. You can work to achieve the annual incentive trip.
Where do I get ideas for my workshops?
Stampin’ Up! has many resources for demonstrators, including the Annual Catalog, a great bi-monthly demonstrator-only magazine called Stampin’ Success, a fantastic website for demonstrators only with an area just for new demonstrators and much more. You’ll also come up with your own great ideas before you know it.
Are there any Stampin’ Up! events that I can attend as a new demonstrator?
Yes, an On Stage event is held twice a year, in April and November. The location rotates between the US (Salt Lake City usually), Europe and the South Pacific. When the event is outside of the US, “local” sites are offered where you can get some of the feel of attending the live event without the time and expense of travel.
