Cheery and Bright Holiday Gift Tags

A punch and some stitched framelits help to make these cheery and bright holiday gift tags.  Add a little embossing powder and you’ve got some fun tags.  I took these two sets of gift tags to a local ‘made locally’ store as a test run and they sold immediately.  So, this weekend I made more of these as well as a bunch of others.  This is called fun busy.

You can purchase only the stamp set OR only the builder punch OR you can save 10% and purchase them together as a bundle.

I have to say that I pretty much ignored this stamp set early on.  Big mistake!  I finally succumbed and have used the images and sentiments and little light bulbs over and over!

Here are the additional supplies I used and then the photographic steps I followed when creating these tags:

Big Shot

$110.00

Heat Tool

$30.00

Fold a piece of Whisper White card stock in half, just wider than the largest stitched circle framelit.  Lay the framelit just off of the folded edge and run it through the Big Shot.

Here’s what the tag will look like when opened.

Use the next smaller stitched circle framelit and cut a circle from the same piece of card stock.

Be sure to use the “merry” bulb with Shaded Spruce ink, the “and” bulb with the Mango Melody ink and the “bright” bulb with the Real Red ink.

This is the ‘fun part’. Using each different light bulb color (Mango Melody, Real Red, Shaded Spruce) stamp the image and immediately sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder. Heat until powder melts, add more embossing powder immediately, heat again, add more powder and heat one more time.  Set aside.  This isn’t a fast process but it’s definitely effective.  You can try to do three at a time, but no more because you don’t want the powder to just soak in and not be ’emboss able’.

Stamp the greeting on the single circle layer, using VersaMark ink. Immediately coat with Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with Heat Tool.

Using remnants of any color foil of your choice, punch (Christmas Bulb Builder punch) out a bunch of little tops for the bulbs. Attach them with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.  TIP:  Place a drop of glue at the top of a bunch of bulbs and then start adding the ‘tops’.  This give the glue a bit of time to get tacky, with less slip and slide.

Starting with the middle Mango Melody bulb, attach it to tag front layer with a Dimensional.  Repeat left and right with the other two bulbs.  Then add that entire layer to the full tag using 3-4 Dimensionals.  Punch a hole, with the hand-held punch, on the upper back portion of the folded tag and add an 8″ – 9″ length of Baker’s Twine slipping one end of the twine through the hole.  Grab both ends together and tie a knot.

And now you have ONE or A BUNCH of really lovely tags to gift to a friend of attach to a gift.  Won’t these Cheery and Bright Holiday Gift Tags make a lovely addition to your holiday gift wrapping?  If you need any of the supplies used in this project either click on an image above to be taken right to my Stampin’ Up! store or send me an email or give me a call and I’ll be glad to place your order for you.  Enjoy!
