Reality – Trying to See Beyond the Boxes

Or…….Why I’m Not Stamping as Much as I’d Like To These Days!

It is very hard to allow yourself to get back into a stamping mode, no matter how badly you want to, when you’re trying to see beyond the boxes.  It seems to be endless.  This is our garage:

Klipple Idaho Garage
That wrapped thing you see in the middle-ish background is Russ’s truck–still loaded from the Mi Wuk Village trip he just returned from. Need empty boxes? We have plenty. Need donations? We have plenty.

I’m storing retired, but beloved, stamp sets in a cupboard in the garage.  My goal is to get them categorized so I can find them easily when the mood strikes me.

Stamping storage cabinet
Thinking of you Bill Ahearn, every time we get into ‘your’ cabinet. The organizational phase hasn’t even begun yet.

This is my pretty much organized new stamping space, the larger of our two spare bedrooms:

Desk, now workspace, purchased on Craig's list while still in CA
Desk, now workspace, purchased on Craig’s list while still in CA; card stock and Big Shot station on left.

stamping storage
IKEA cubes that used to support my 8′ x 4′ stamping work table (now a friend’s quilting work table) are stacked and hold my current stamp sets and some ‘odd’ stuff.  Left: my ELFA storage drawers that have been with me since the 1980s.  Left again: a garage sale ‘found’ cabinet, repainted.  Final left: a card carousel my sister found at a closing H***mark store in Santa Rosa CA a few years ago.  It now holds my current ‘for sale’ cards.

Re-purposed closet. More ELFA draws.  Cabinet in the corner was my children’s diaper storage unit! It now houses Occasions and SAB products.  And my work desk.  Love those storage units  for my Stampin’ Blends.

Another view of work space from right wall to left wall. The only ‘lack’ in the room in adequate lighting. The ceiling light is all but worthless.

I tell myself that I have to empty at least five boxes/day and walk at least two miles.  Then I can justify some stamping time.  Yes, I fail miserably all too often.  But, I keep on plugging.  And this past weekend I just played hookey and have done as I pleased.  Yes.  Stamping.  Feels great.  Tomorrow I’ll pay the price and get back to the household tasks first.

This is what WE have to deal with:

garage mess
It’s a LOT of this and that, including the lovely phone box my hubby built for me that needs some TLC before coming out of the garage. I’m not sure where we’re going to put it permanently.

So now, when you don’t see new stamping ideas from me, I hope you’ll understand.  In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the remainder of today by stamping my little brains out, getting lots (like 2-3) of posts ready to share.  Enjoy your day.
